Hazelnuts are an excellent source of vitamin E, dietary protein, fibre, magnesium, B vitamins and antioxidants.

They contain a low percentage of saturated fats and are a great source of mono and polyunsaturated fats. Great for a healthy snack!

Hazelnut Flour is a by product of oil pressing and is a tasty gluten free alternative to wheat flour.

Hazels’ produce flowers and pollinate during winter and are frost hardy.

Historians tell us that the hazelnut, or filbert, has been around for at least 4500 years used by the Chinese and Ancient Greeks for various remedies.

In shell hazels store well for 2-3 years as long as they are kept in a well ventilated and rodent free environment.

Once shelled they are best stored in the refrigerator or freezer in air tight bags.

Delicious eaten fresh but their flavour becomes even richer and more indulgent when dry roasted.

Spread the kernels in a single layer on the base of a roasting dish and place in a fan forced oven at 180 degrees C.

Stir frequently and roast until the outer papery skin lifts easily.
